“Bert”
The birth of Bert:
Bert came into being because robots are cool, and the concept of a character that is “built” really appealed to our creative sensibilities in the context of 3D printing. Bert was created as a sweet tempered junkyard robot who loves nature, specifically daisies. As he evolved, Bert’s likeness became the inspiration for the art direction of My Robot Nation (link). The Adventures of Bert by DLT Photography now has a devoted following on Instagram, and that popularity lead to the creation of Bert’s companion Zip in 2012.
